Synopsis

In the fourth of a series of animated Star Wars shorts, a flying army of naked Barbies (with something sinister on their minds) descends onto the peaceful lemon planet to wreak havoc. In French with English subtitles.

Background

Starring a Barbie doll I bought at the drugstore, this is the last movie I will ever make with Star Wars action figures - I promise.

After a year or so of making this little flicks - and being subjected to lunatic Star Wars fans, I figured it was about time to give them the finger.

It worked. Check out this pan from a viewer who posted to IMDb.

I really don't understand a thing of what was happening on screen. This has got to be one of the weirdest things I have seen. This is even weirder than a Japanese game show!

And what is with the French in this movie? This movie really is about nothing but even worse it's not funny. Sure it was nicely made but it most certainly wasn't entertaining.

I really didn't understood anything of what happened in this movie. The only way this movie might be funny to you is when you're drunk. There absolutely is no story and it's just plain ... well .. uh ... weird to say the least.

You can better watch another Evan Mather short instead.

What unique about the animation for this flick, was that it was all done totally within After Effects.

Whereas the other Star Wars shorts has been stop-motion in front of foamcore backgrounds, for Les Pantless Menace I photographed the figures in various poses using a digital still camera - which afforded a much higher resolution.

These images were then cleaned up and cut apart in Photoshop before being animated in After Effects. These sequences were then edited together in Final Cut Pro where the music and sound effects were added.

While the story may indeed suck, I am happy with how the visuals for Les Pantless Menace came out - they are tres excelique.
