Synopsis Story of twin brothers Randy and Rusty McNally who are convinced the Apollo moon landings were faked in an unholy pact between Hollywood and the government. Filmed in wide screen, Airplane Glue features multiple film stocks, wireless mikes, seizure-inducing split screen panels, and Mr. Hostetter in an acclaimed dual role. Know the facts. Background I've never seen that Michael Keaton movie where he plays like seven versions of himself at the same time, but I know that for our follow up project to Vert, Kirk and I wanted to give it a try. And this time Jill said she wanted a role. These ideas seem to come from the edges of our consciousness. There was this magazine show in the 70s called Real People that did a segment on this nut who was convinced the moon landings were faked on a Hollywood sound stage. And Kirk found a book by Ralph Rene on the same subject. Filmed all around the Seattle area - with a good amount in Eastern Washington for the desert shots - which wound up being shot a couple of different times. The first time the camera battery ran out too quickly - which was fine since the resulting acting was quite cringe-inducing. We returned a few months later with a larger battery and got some slightly less cringe-inducing performances. We did learn at least that it was technically possible - and almost believable to have Kirk play two roles on screen at the same time. Other scenes were filmed at the abandoned Sand Point Naval Air Station; in Damien's basement; in David's car; and in Westlake Plaza a few days before Christmas. The man-on-the-street footage was taken on the University of Washington campus just outside a lecture being given by Buzz Aldrin - the second man to walk on the moon. I filmed the lecture, but decided not to use it for almost obvious reasons.
